Here the PM1703M scintillation counter is used to detect the gamma radiation from Americium-241, which is used in ionizing-type smoke detectors. Americium-241 emits low energy gammas (59.5 kev).
Luckily, someone saw the smoke and alerted the fire department. The smoke alarm, however, never sounded because there wasn’t one in the basement.
This is the first video made for the QC Report. I have three rules: I must do it all in one take, I can’t use notes and I must have a cup of tea. It’s an experiment — let’s see how it works out. Also, I disabld the comments here on youtube (because they get pretty odd) so if you want to leave or read comments, come over to the qcreport. (www.qcreport.com)
Never let a fire threat pass you by! The smoke detector is a highly sensitive device that emits a loud and continuous warning sound whenever smoke particles of a certain concentration is detected by its sensors. The smoke detector essentially works as an effective initial warning system whenever a fire occurs. Buy now at www.firex.com.my
